Our project

A place for the whole community to play, meet and stay active.

What we are building

Our plan is for a fully renovated community centre and an all-weather multi-sports pitch, set in a safe, attractive environment that everyone can use.

The project includes:

  • A renovated community centre with meeting and community spaces

  • A floodlit all-weather multi-sports pitch

  • Facilities for sport, fitness, arts, youth groups and events

  • Safe parking

  • A walking path around the pitch

  • Outdoor exercise stations

Who is this project for?

This project is for everyone: young children, teenagers and young adults, mothers with babies, older neighbours, and people with disabilities or health challenges.

It will give local clubs and groups, including GAA, football, athletics, community games and fitness classes, a proper home.

The project will bring people together from Spa, Fenit, Barrow, The Kerries, Kilfenora and beyond.

Today & Tomorrow

The hall has served the community for years, but it needs major work to be safe, warm and welcoming for everyone.

Delivery

We intend to deliver the project in phases due mainly to funding constraints.

At community meetings in September 2025 and September 2026 we set out our plan to deliver the project in phases, so we can start building as funding comes in.

Phase 1 will deliver:

  • A renovated community centre: safe removal of the old asbestos roof, new windows and doors, a new floor and new heating system

  • A new all-weather floodlit pitch

  • Installation of external walkway and parking

Completion of Phase 1 expected Q1/Q2 2028

Further Phases will deliver:

  • A new sports hall with larger indoor court space

  • Additional changing rooms

  • Additional parking

  • Tennis/Padel/Pickleball courts

  • Studio space

  • Meeting rooms

  • Cafeteria meeting space

Completion of Further phases estimated by 2035

Our Biggest Hurdle

Undoubtedly the biggest remaining hurdle for this community project is funding. Without funding we won’t be able to start the project, let alone complete it.

We need your help!

We ask, if possible, that you donate €300 via our Donate page.

Your donation will allow us to progress Phase 1 of this amazing project to completion.
